Excellent presentation, very tasty and original. Wonderful attitude of staff. Reminders of Raymond Blanc's early restaurant in Oxford. T Freshwell.

"Last week, my Husband and I were generously invited to the Champagne evening at Austells and what a treat it was.

On arrival we were immediately welcomed by several smiling staff with trays of champagne, delightful canapes and a "buzz" of people enjoying themselves.

The evening unfolded into an absolute feast, but the fillet of beef was beyond expectations. Slow roasted for 11 hours, it just melted in the mouth, with so much flavour. All five courses were presented beautifully, finishing with freshly made petit fours with our coffee.

Brett is certainly an exquisite Chef and Stephanie very good front of house. Every member of staff is attentive and friendly - a great team. Indeed, a fabulous fine dining experience.

My wife and I where in St. Austell for only 2 nights, and the food
and atmosphere at Austells was so good we went both nights. Brett
has produced a fantastic menu that wouldn't be out of place in some
of the best restaurants in London - it's worth driving from Berkshire
to Cornwall for on it's own. Not only was the food amazing but Brett
and his staff made it a very enjoyable evening too. If you're in this
part of the world it's the only place to eat.

Went here for my anniversary and was blown away! You really taste the flavours, so fresh and all locally supplied. The wines were great value and went so well with the food - thanks Jamie for recommending so well! We all liked the way the chef, Brett, came out to ask how we enjoyed it and chatted about his plans. Best in Cornwall!

The Fish was amazing, beautiful sauce and fantasic service made it a very lovely evening, certainly be back next time we are in Cornwall.

We were visiting Cornwall as a result of the disruption to air travel caused by the volcanic eruption in Iceland. Whilst visiting the Lost Gardens of Heligan, we picked up a guide to eateries in the area and thought that Austell's looked promising, and so telephoned to reserve a table.
When we arrived, it was clear that we had stumbled across something special. The restaurant was spotlestly clean; we were met with a warm greeting from the front of house staff; and the kitchen was open and on display to the diners.
The menu was interesting and, thankfully, not too extensive. We both chose something different for starters, main and dessert, thus giving us an idea of presentation and taste.
It's impossible to put into words just how impressed we were with everything that we were served. Whether it's the home made bread, the amuse bouche, or everything that we ordered and ate - I would run out of superlatives.
This really is an exceptional restaurant, offering fine dining at a truly reasonable price. We've eaten in restaurants with 2 and 3 Michelin stars and, in our view, Austell's is certainly worthy of 2 stars.
It's a gem of a place and how we wish it was a couple of hundred miles closer to London. If you're staying anywhere near St Austell, then please do visit Austell's - you will not be disappointed.
